A stampede-like situation at a walk-interview event at Ankleshwar town of Bharuch district in Gujarat. Chaos occurred at a private company with around 1800 students jostling their way inside the venue, Lord Plaza Hotel. Across ten different locations, hundreds of students gathered overwhelming the hotel venue of the interviews for a total of just ten jobs. The viral video shows queues of hundreds of interviewees snarling their way through the entrance of the hotel.
Railing At The Venue Collapsed By The Weight Of The Crowd
The event was held with the intent to recruit individuals for jobs in chemical engineering to ITI certification for various roles including Shift Incharge, Plant Operator, Supervisor, Mechanical Filter, and Executive. The large turnout of a dense crowd pointed to the venue’s inadequacy in the infrastructure which also led to the accident where a railing collapsed because of the heavy weight of the crowd and the pushing and shoving that happened. The accident led to the injury of a man and also caused damage to many nearby parked vehicles.
No Comments By The In-charge Of The Event
When the collapse of the railing was anticipated, two aspirants jumped down while at least six fell down on the ground along with the railing. However, no serious injuries have been reported so far. The company that was in charge of the event has not issued any statement or made any comments on the incident so far. The ten vacancies were advertised by the engineering company located in the Gujarat Industrial Development Cooperation Complex in Jhagadia. The incident has led to growing concern among netizens and politicians about the surging unemployment rates in the country.
Congress Criticises BJP For Unemployment In India
The Congress has taken a dig at the BJP stating that BJP-led states have become an ‘epicenter of disease’. The Congress took to the X suggesting the viral videos of the stampede expose the Gujarat model touted by the party. Further adding, Congress says that the BJP is imposing its model of unemployment all over the country. An MP from Bhaluch, Mansukh Vasava from the BJP condemned the incident and said that steps are being taken to ensure that accidents like these do not happen again. Other politicians from the BJP have claimed in defense that these viral videos are a way to defame the state of Gujarat. Furthermore, they said that the company required experienced individuals which implies that the interviewers were already employed.
