Vinesh Phogat has been practicing wrestling since 2001 at the age tender age of 7 years. She began her international wrestling career between the year 2010 and 2014 with medals in junior and senior wrestling competitions. The Indian Politicians, Actors and Actresses, Models, Sportspersons and all the other people of India were heartbroken with her news of disqualification from Paris Olympics but supported her in this nightmare. Not just Indians, but also American wrestler Jordan Burroughs demanded a silver medal for Vinesh after her disqualification.

Vinesh’s Retirement Announcement

Dejected Vinesh Phogat announced that she is retiring from wrestling by sharing a post on her X handle (formerly known as Twitter). She wrote in the post that meant, “Mother wrestling won against me and I lost. Mother your dream and my power have been broken, now I don’t have any strength left. Goodbye Wrestling 2001-2024. I will always be indebted to you all, Sorry.”

Netizen’s Reaction

The netizens could not believe the retirement announcement and gave all the strength and support to Vinesh. A comment read, “Champions never lose courage. Our whole country India is with you. We are proud of you.” A supporter said, “Sister, you have broken the egos of the most egoists. In today’s time you are the one who has the most courage.” Most of the comments read that India is proud of Vinesh. A user wrote, “India’s daughter – you are the pride of the country. Don’t lose courage like this, the trouble today will pass tomorrow, keep your courage.”

About Disqualification

On 7th August, during the weight check of Paris Olympics women wrestling match, Vinesh Phogat was found to be overweight for 50kg match category. She was found to be 100 grams overweight in the 50kg category. This little weight broke Vinesh and India’s dream of medal. She cut her hair, had limited water and high energy food were given to her to keep her in the 50kg weight. But Vinesh and her team failed to do so which resulted in her disqualification.

Vinesh Admitted After Disqualification

Vinesh Phogat was admitted in hospital after her disqualification from a medal-winning wrestling match at Paris Olympics 2024. She was already dehydrated and hence had to administer IV fluids in order to prevent further dehydration. Her blood tests were performed to ensure that she is medically well.
