The girls had gone to a local temple to witness the Janmashtami celebrations the previous night. When they failed to return home, their families began a frantic search. The bodies were later found in a mango orchard near Kayamganj.

According to Farrukhabad’s Superintendent of Police (SP), Alok Priyadarshi, the girls were found hanging from a single ‘dupatta,’ which was tied around the tree. A mobile phone and a SIM card were also recovered from the scene.
