NEW DELHI: The Islamic State organization claimed responsibility for the attack on Moscow’s Crocus City Hall on Saturday. Over sixty people lost their lives, and 145 were injured as a result of the incident.
According to AFP, the organization claimed in a statement on the messaging app Telegram that IS members “attacked a large gathering… on the outskirts of the Russian capital Moscow.”
The assailants threw bombs, starting a massive fire at the 6,000-person auditorium, according to Russian news agencies. A large cloud of smoke rose into the night sky as footage from outside the building showed it completely engulfed in flames. Numerous fire engines, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles had their blue lights flashing, lighting up the street.
Emergency services reportedly evacuated about 100 people from a Moscow music hall’s basement after a shooting and fire broke out on Friday. Assistance for those who are seeking safety on the roof is in progress.Vladimir Putin, according to the Russian president’s spokesman, receives regular updates on the attack that occurred on Friday at a concert hall outside of Moscow and claimed many lives.
Dmitry Peskov, the White House spokesman, stated, “The President is constantly being informed by all relevant services about what is happening and the measures being taken.”
Putin wishes the victims of the incident in Moscow a swift recovery.
The deputy prime minister of Russia stated that during their meeting, President Vladimir Putin wished the victims a speedy recovery.
According to Russian news outlets, Tatyana Golikova stated, “The president wished everyone a speedy recovery and conveyed his gratitude to the doctors.”
Moscow shuts off
Over the course of the two-year invasion of Ukraine by Putin, Moscow has mostly escaped the consequences. Putin’s spokesman didn’t formally refer to the military operation as a “war” until lately.
Charles Lichfield, the deputy director of the GeoEconomics Center at the Atlantic Council in Washington, stated, “The obvious route for the Kremlin to spin this is that it has to do with the war in Ukraine.” Even though drone and missile strikes were already becoming more common before the terrorist acts, he continued, “the immediate response could be more of them.”
International censure
John Kirby, the White House spokesperson, said, “The images are just horrible and just hard to watch, and our thoughts obviously are going to be with the victims of this terrible, terrible shooting attack.”
In a statement, the German foreign ministry said, “The pictures of the terrible assault on defenseless people at Crocus City Hall outside of Moscow are horrifying. It’s vital to make the background clear. We send the victims’ families our sincere sympathies.”
Let’s be clear about this: Ukraine had nothing to do with these events, according to Mykhailo Podolyak, the presidential adviser for Ukraine, who denied that his country was involved in the attack. Both the Russian Federation as a nation and its regular army are involved in a full-scale, all-out conflict with us. And on the battlefield, it will all be decided, no matter what.
