In a powerful and sincere display of solidarity and call for justice, over 300 Indian Americans along with Bangladeshi-origin Hindus gathered around at the Sugar Land City Hall in the city of Houston in Texas, U.S. The gathering occurred on the morning of Sunday, August 11, in order to protest against the horrific atrocities being committed by the Islamic extremists against the Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.
Protestors Urge Biden Administration To Not Stay Silent
The organizers and protestors publicly and loudly called Joe Biden’s Administration to take immediate and appropriate measures to prevent further atrocities against the minorities in Bangladesh and protect the various vulnerable communities in the country undergoing severe crisis and chaos. The crowd of demonstrators and protestors urged the US government to not remain silent amid the alarming threat to peace and stability in Bangladesh. Several innocent have been reportedly lost amid the violence and chaos in the country after its government fell.
Protestors Urge Bangladeshi Hindus To Stay Vigilant
Numerous video clips and reports have surfaced on the internet exposing the heinous crimes taking place taking place in the country against minorities. The protestors in Houston also encouraged the Hindus in Bangladesh to stay vigilant and unite amid the current situation. A vigil, titled “Save Hindus in Bangladesh” had been organized by the Global Voice for Bangladesh Minorities, which is an umbrella organization representing the major Houston Hindu groups.
Crime Against Women, Torture Of Minorities And Burning Of Temples
The protesting crowd passionately raised slogans, like, as “Stop Hindu Genocide”, “Stand up and speak out now”, “Hindu lives matter”, and “We won’t run, we won’t hide”. The echoing crowd also chanted famous slogans on peace and injustice from great personalities like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King. Co-convener of HinduPACT, Deepti Mahajan warned that with the coup in Bangladesh today, 10 million Hindus are sitting on a ticking bomb of genocide. She further reported the harrowing stories of abuse against women, unimaginable torture of minority communities, and burning and vandalizing of Hindu temples among the atrocities amid the crisis in Bangladesh. Moreover, a few Indian celebrities have also spoken up on the serious matter including Preity Zinta, Raveena Tandon, Hina Khan, Sonu Sood, Sonam Kapoor, and Kangana Ranaut.
