Ukraine and India have good relations with each other. These countries had a very good deal for exporting and importing of few items but this got affected by Ukraine-Russia conflict. In 2022, Ukraine had exported products like Seed Oils, Nitrogenous Fertilisers and Ammonia in heavy quantities. PM of India, Narendra Modi said that he will be visiting Ukraine for a few reasons.

Ukraine’s Invitation

President of Ukraine since 2019, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been in the position of the president during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine which started in 2022. Reportedly, President Zelenskyy has invited PM Narendra Modi to visit Ukraine. PM Narendra Modi took to his X account (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, “I will be visiting Ukraine at the invitation of President @ZelenskyyUa.”

India-Ukraine Friendship

Over the years, as mentioned above, India and Ukraine has cordial relations with each other. The relations were maintained for technology, defence, trade and culture. Narendra Modi tweeted, “This visit will be an opportunity to build on the earlier discussions with him and deepening the India-Ukraine friendship.” This visit may deepen the relations between these countries which may pave the way for collaboration in various other sectors.

Path to Peace

Recently, PM Narendra Modi had visited Russia for the purpose of strengthening their collaboration in the field of technology, science and defence. With this visit of Modi in Russia, the president of Ukraine was not happy at all due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. After this visit to Russia, now Modi will be visiting Ukraine. Narendra Modi tweeted, “We will also share perspectives on the peaceful resolution of the ongoing Ukraine conflict. As a friend and partner, we hope for an early return of peace and stability in the region.” As India has cordial relations with Ukraine and Russia both, it’s perspective can be considered neutral.

Now he is trying to cover up that by visiting Ukraine.” A supporter said, “This bilateral will help in navigating global turmoils. India is not more a mere player in global diplomacy, it’s a guiding force. Under PM @narendramodi Ji’s & @DrSJaishankar Ji’s guidance, India will develop multilateral partnerships to foster global peace.” A netizen commented on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and said, “Hopeful this will lead to end of the ongoing Ukraine conflict and the restoration of peace in the said region.” A troll said, “First tell me when you are going to Manipur, when you are going to Bihar, when you are going to Bengal.”
