Bharatiya Janata Party’s General Secretary Vinod Tawre announced on Wednesday, July 17 that Mumbai’s first underground metro rail corridor, known as Metro Line 3 will be operating in the state from July 24. Vinod Tawre shared the big news on the social media platform X and mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has guaranteed to make the life of all Mumbaikars easier and more fulfilling.
Aqua Line 33.5 Kilometers Long With Total 27 Stops
Mumbai’s first underground metro line is called the ‘Aqua Line’. An update on the Government of India’s website confirmed on July 17 that the metro line will be operational from July 24. The metro line is 33.5 kilometers long and will be running from the Aarey Colony to the Cuffe Parade, the run of the metro line will be comprised of a total of 27 stops, becoming a new impetus to the speed in the city. The 33.5-kilometer Aqua Line will also connect the areas of Bandra, Colaba, and SEEPZ.
Daily Passenger Capacity Of 17 Lakh People
The first Metro Line 1 was constructed in collaboration with the private partner Reliance, whereas, the Metro Line 3 was constructed under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority. The government of India announced that the introduction of Metro Line 3 or the Aqua Line will contribute to the transformation of urban transit. Travel across major Mumbai streets will become more seamless and easy, while traffic congestion will be reduced. The Aqua Line has an efficient daily passenger capacity of 17 Lakh people. At the same time, three thousand individuals can board the metro. Service of the metro line is expected to begin from 6:30 AM and will run till 11 PM.
Metro Line 3 Worth Rs. 23, 136 Crore
The Metro Line 3 project has a cost of an estimated amount of Rs. 23, 136 crore. Moreover, the cost involved in the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) in the making of the transforming project is worth rs. 37,000 crore. According to reports, the Japan International Cooperation Agency has financed a large portion of the project. The project introducing Metro Line 3 will particularly benefit commuters in South Mumbai. Currently, the operational metro lines in Mumbai are Lines 1, 2A, and 7. Construction of other metro lines is underway. Earlier in May, several trial runs of the metro line were conducted and the metro was observed to run smoothly from the Aarey Colony to Dadar. The entire construction of the line, particularly the second phase of the tunnel is expected to take another few months.
