Kamala Harris was initially endorsed by President Joe Biden after he withdrew from the presidential race against former President Donald Trump. Kamala Harris has been making advancements in preparation for the elections. She has recently also chosen her running mate.

Kamala Harris Picks Tim Walz As Her Running Mate

Vice President Kamala Harris is preparing for the upcoming presidential elections in the United States of America. Harris has chosen Minnesota’s governor Tim Walz as her running mate in the upcoming presidential elections. Harris is representing the Democratic party as a candidate, along with her running mate Tim Walz, and will be facing Republicans, Donald Trump and J. D. Vance during elections on November 5. 

Who Is Tim Walz?

60-year-old Tim Walz is a former social sciences teacher and a US Army National Guard Veteran. His political career began in 2006 when he won a seat in the US House of Republicans. Being the vice-presidential candidate, he served for 12 years before he became the governor of Minnesota in 2018. During his tenure as governor, Walz has promoted free school meals, climate change initiatives, cutting down taxes, and expanding paid leaves. He was also a vocal supporter of President Joe Biden and expressed his support for Biden after his presidential debate with Donald Trump.

Walz Among Two Finalist Candidates, Another Was Josh Shapiro

Kamala Harris is soon expected to accept the Democratic Presidential Nomination in a ceremony at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, following which Harris will be certified on the state ballots. Before picking Tim Walz, Kamala Harris had another finalist candidate, who was the governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro. Harris presumably chose Tim Walz for his potential appeal to white and working-class America. Harris is now hoping for a successful run with Tim Walz.

Walz’s Connections With India And China

Moreover, Tim Walz has had connections with India. He had also declared August 15, which is celebrated as Independence Day in India, as ‘India Day’ in his state Minnesota. Walz emphasizes India’s rich cultural heritage and extraordinary diversity. Reportedly, Minnesota has almost 55,000 people who are either Indians are of Indian origin. Furthermore, he also has connections with China following his job as a teacher once in the country.
