Spanish Authorities Attempt To Prevent Ship From Docking, Reports Claim Explosives On Ship Departed From India

According to reports from Ynetnews, a Cargo vessel dropped off on the Spanish coast in May this year, at a short distance from Cartagena. Upon seeing the cargo at the port, protestors waved Palestinian flags and called the authorities to inspect the ship after speculating that it might contain weapons to be supplied to Israel. Members of the European Parliament then called Spanish President Pedro Sanchez in a request to prevent the ship from docking. Before the Spanish government could act on it, the ship changed its route to the Slovenian port of Koper. According to documents recovered by Al Jazeeza, the ship contained explosives coming from India, en route to Israel’s Ashdod port, which is 18 miles from Gaza. As per tracking sites, the ship departed Chennai on April 2.

RESCOP Unravels Arms List On The Ship

Reported by the Solidarity Network Against the Palestinian Occupation, suggested that Borkum carried 20 tonnes of rocket engines, 12.5 tonnes of rockets with explosive charges, 1500 kg of explosive substances, and 740 kg of propellants for cannons. These munitions were meant for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). Another ship that departed India on its way to Israel’s Haifa had been denied entry at the port of Cartagena, called Marianne Danica. The ship carries 27 tonnes of explosives. The ship’s entry was denied and was later confirmed by Foreign Affairs Minister Joes Manuel Albares.

Explosive In Gaza labeled “Made In India”, Causes Speculation

On June 4, Qued News Network released a video of the aftermath of a bombing in Gaza, where amidst the remains of weapons and debris, a weapon was labeled “made in India”. India and Israel’s collaboration is based upon sharing ammunition. India has made no confirmations, and neither accepted nor denied the supply of weaponry, still seemingly maintaining that the war must end along with support for the creation of a Palestinian state. Thus, the statements from Ynetnews have sparked speculations and chatter among Indians on India’s role in the Israel-Gaza war.
