9th Terror Attack In J&K This Month, Four Soldiers Killed

As the ninth terror attack within a month, four Indian Army Soldiers lost their lives in a gunfight on the night of Monday, July 15 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district. The encounter happened around 7:45 PM when the security forces comprising the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special operations group of J&K police were carrying out a search operation in the Desa Forest area near the Dhari Gote Urarbagi which is about 55 kilometers from the Doda district.

Reportedly, after a 20-minute encounter with terrorists, soldiers began chasing them after the terrorists fled and hid in the forest belt. They then suddenly opened fire at the soldiers led to four Indian Army soldiers being severely wounded along with a policeman. Later on, four of the soldiers were killed because of the injuries. Among those soldiers was officer Major Brijesh Thappa from the 10 Rashtriya Rifles who had only recently been promoted. After opening fire, terrorists escaped from the forest but were later caught by the troops which again led to a gunfight at around 9 PM. Reinforcements were sent on the spot.

Brijesh Thapa And Ajay Singh Naruka’s Parents Share Pride And Grief

Officer Brijesh Thapa’s parents expressed massive pride in their son’s sacrifice for the nation despite a great amount of grief. The officer’s parents shared that they could not believe the news when they first heard about it around 11 PM. Moreover, reportedly, a few hours before the encounter, one of the fallen soldiers, sepoy Ajay Singh Naruka informed his parents residing in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan on July 20. He had called his parents telling them about the ongoing conflict in the region and clarified that he is doing fine there. Later this morning, they received a call to be informed that their son was no more.

Rahul Gandhi Blames The BJP Government

Last week as well, five soldiers were killed after their army tank was entrapped while they were on a search operation duty. Furthermore, nine soldiers were killed in the region last month and 33 others were injured after suspected terrorists attacked a vehicle carrying Hindu pilgrims. Then, on July 8, eight soldiers were killed in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi paid homage to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the conflict on Monday and also expressed his condolences. He mentioned that the sudden increase in attacks in the J&K region is extremely sad and worrying. He also pointed out the BJP  government’s policies and said that it is because of these poor policies that the region is suffering. Rahul Gandhi holds the government responsible for the repeated security lapses.
